Eoin Macken
Eoin Macken is an international actor, director, and writer who stars as the lead role of 'Gavin Harris' on the NBC primetime series "La Brea," with season two in production. The multi- hyphenate filmmaker wrote, directed, and produced "Here Are the Young Men," adapted from a novel by Rob Doyle, of the same name, starring Finn Cole, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Dean-Charles Chapman. The film's theme was driven by the social analysis of toxic masculinity, and was released in international theaters in November 2021, as well as via Netflix in the UK and VOD in the states. Macken can also be seen as the male lead in the film "The Cellar" alongside Elisa Cuthbert, which premiered at SXSW 2022 and will premiere April 15th on Shudder. Macken's satirical comedy "Grey Elephant" is set for a Fall 2022 international release. Starring Brendan Fehr and Erin Richards, the story follows two couples meeting together for the first time after months of being on lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition to television and film, the gifted storyteller is on the forefront of technological advancement. Macken has created the NFT project Zomby, World, launching March 31, 2022. The concept follows a zombie outbreak at a comic convention. Zomby World will include a TV series, graphic novel, and foray into the gaming world, with original scripts, music, and art sourced from the community, using Discord and Twitter to connect its users. Zomby World is partnered with One Tree Planted, a non-profit organization working towards the goal of global reforestation. Macken's goal through the decentralized platform is to create an environmental app that allows sourcing of worldwide information in bettering the health of the planet.
On the film and television front, Macken can be seen in a variety of projects in leading roles. Macken's big break in television came from his work in the hit BBC series "Merlin" as hero 'Sir Gwaine.' He went on to play the lead role of 'Dr. TC Callahan' in NBC's "The Night Shift." Other television projects include the lead of 'Karl D' Branin' in SyFy's "Nightflyers," and recurring in the Emmy-winning Showtime series "The Tudors." He also starred opposite Stephen Moyer, Rufus Sewell and Kelsey Grammer in National Geographic Channel's Emmy-nominated series "Killing Jesus." In film, he has starred in A24's award winning feature "The Hole in the Ground" which premiered at Sundance and was directed by Lee Cronin with Sophie Nélisse, "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson with Milla Jovovich, Focus Features' "The Forest" opposite Taylor Kinney and Natalie Domer, and Netflix's "Till Death" alongside Megan Fox. Macken's artistic talents extended into cinematography in the independent films "Stalker" and "Charlie Casanova" which he wrote, directed, and starred in opposite Jack Reynor as well as his work in the Independent film "Leopard" with Tom Hopper (Umbrella Academy).
Adding to his talents and accomplishments, Eoin is also an author. He published his first book Kingdom of Scars which was shortlisted for the Bord Gais Energy Irish Book Awards in 2014. He followed with Hunter and the Grape available on Amazon. Macken is working on his third novel, Circus, a father and son story about identity and relationships.
