David Preston

David Preston was born in Santa Monica, California to Harriet, a Philadelphia-born writer, and Joel Preston, a Brooklyn-born film publicist. He grew up in Hollywood and graduated from Fairfax High School. His first acting teacher was the wonderful Nina Foch where David immersed himself into the craft. He went on to study with acclaimed teachers Peggy Feury and William Traylor at the Loft Studio and continues to study with the highly respected Jeffrey Marcus. David's first television appearance was on Columbia Pictures TV The New Gidget (1986) playing series regular Murph the Surf. Other notable TV work includes Hawaii Five-0 (2010) playing double-agent Jack Teague, Agent Wilson on Syfy's Stormageddon (2015) and the cult-favorite Max Headroom (1987) opposite Jeffrey Tambor. On film, he has played opposite James Woods in the intense drama The Boost (1988) directed by Harold Becker and as Jeremy in Higher Power (2018) from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura among others. On the stage, David has performed in such classics as Romeo & Juliet, Of Mice And Men, All The King's Men and To Kill A Mockingbird, where Frances Baum Nicholson of Stage Struck Review wrote, "The nasty and vindictive Bob Ewell (played by an enthusiastically villainous David Preston) sparks with a vicious energy." In 2012, David appeared in the Los Angeles Premier Production of Dennis Lehane's Coronado portraying the soulless sociopath, "Bobby's Father" which was noted by Stage Scene LA's Steven Stanley, "played to scary perfection by David Preston." Other standout performances include David's portrayal of the forlorn Eastern European widower, Armen in Rant! (Part Deux) and the infamous German SS Colonel Josef Albert Meisinger in the 2017 World Premier Production of Fugu where reviewer Joe Straw commented, "Preston's work is exceptional and he brings a dark presence to the man who has been called in real life 'The Butcher of Warsaw'." David has been featured in numerous short films including Nightfall (2019) playing Jake, a man beat down by guilt and substance abuse, the thriller Ambulance (2016) playing Warren, a jaded E.M.T., in The Big Five (2019) playing a reclusive trophy hunter, in Tidelands (2021) playing Conor, a terminally-ill man determined to die with dignity and most recently, playing Italian mobster Elio Rossi in the upcoming dark comedy Made (2022).
