Brooks Darnell
Actor Brooks Darnell was born July 26th. The eldest of three sons, 'Brooks', named by his father after baseball great Brooks Robinson, aspired to be an actor.
Brooks' passion to perform started at an early age. He attributes his tenacity to his mother as it was she who would encourage him to build his talent through reciting monologues and dancing to the hits of Michael Jackson and MC Hammer.
After being scouted at a local fair at the age of sixteen, Brooks signed with a talent agency and soon after tested his skills at the nationally acclaimed IMTA talent showcase, New York City competition. Brooks placed third out of over four hundred monologue contestants which won him an invitation to study at the prestigious Conservatory theater school in San Francisco.
Brooks held off on pursuing his acting career to continue his education as a pre-med student on a football scholarship. Be it a sign from the universe or blessing in disguise, Brooks two year success came to an end due to a sports injury.
Opportunity calling, Brooks Darnell again pursued a career in front of the camera and in 2001 he signed with BMG Models in Chicago. He was the first African American male client to grace their roster.
Brooks' next move was to Toronto, where he developed his talent by studying under some of the most respected acting coaches such as Larry Moss and David Rotenberg.
Now residing in West Hollywood, Brooks continues his quest to become a bankable name and staple in entertainment. As "Stevens" in the highly anticipated summer blockbuster Total Recall, Brooks is well on the right path.
Said by his coaches and those who watch him to be 'a definite leading man' and described to possess the 'ability to bring each character to life with great truth'. Brooks Darnell, is sure to be a force.
