John Kottoly found his penchant for acting at a very young age. He always believed that life is a mere imitation of experiences and owes to the world for all that he has learnt. Stage is where he found a new self; exploring phases that were challenging to be as his usual self. He was fortunate enough to get exposure to art-house and world cinema at a young age which groomed him to appreciate good cinema and quality performance. He explored digital medium through short-films and won accolades for subtlety in performance and screen presence.
