Ben Steele
Ben is a multi-award-winning director and cinematographer known for journalistic integrity, a compelling visual style and work that pushes the boundaries of conventional story-telling techniques.
In 2013 Ben directed and shot his first HBO film, Hunted: The War Against Gays in Russia, that won a Grierson award in the UK and was Emmy nominated in 2014, guest appearing on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to discuss the film. His next HBO project, Orphans of Ebola, was nominated for a BAFTA cinematography award in 2016 and Emmy nominated in 2017. He directed and filmed the hit BBC series, Love and Hate Crime, that won a Broadcast Digital award in 2018. His BBC feature documentary, The Whistleblowers: Inside the UN, won a Broadcast award in 2023.
