James Hamilton
James Hamilton is a triple award winning comedy screenwriter and sketch comedian from London. As of November 2019, he has been working in Los Angeles as the head writer of an upcoming 6-11 animated sci-fi comedy series for Netflix.
Previously, he worked for two and a half years as a member of Cartoon Network's BAFTA writing team for The Amazing World of Gumball (with more than 50 writing credits across seasons 4-6), and has more recently written for Warner Bros.' Unikitty!, as well as other animated shows currently in production. He has developed shows with DreamWorks Animation and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios.
James has also written for Cartoon Hangover's Bravest Warriors (created by Adventure Time's Pendleton Ward), Disney Channel's Space Chickens In Space, and BBC Radio 4's Sketchorama.
James is best known as the creator and lead writer of both critically acclaimed UK sketch troupe "Casual Violence", and internationally lauded podcast sitcom series "Hector Vs The Future". His live comedy shows have been regularly programmed at high-profile UK venues including the Soho Theatre, the Lowry Theatre, the Leicester Square Theatre and the Pleasance Courtyard. With Casual Violence, as a solo act, and otherwise, James took twelve different shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival between 2010 and 2015.
Casual Violence have also been commissioned by BBC Radio 4 (the episode they featured in was subsequently nominated for a BBC Audio Drama Award), and the group regularly produce short comedy films and sketches written by James (all of which can be found on YouTube.) Their latest anthology podcast, The Sound of Casual Violence, is now available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and all other podcast platforms.
